November 1-3

 PTMS Wildcats,

We hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend.  This past week, we worked with our students for Red Ribbon Week.  Red Ribbon Week focuses on Drug Prevention and making healthy choices.  This year we wanted our students to find their Natural High.  A Natural High is something you do that makes you happy and something you love.  This can be a sport, hanging with family or friends, something that makes you proud, a new hobby, etc.  We had students identify something that makes them happy and drug free.  One thing is for sure, our Wildcats are very talented!  See our Wildcat's responses below.

Also, this week, we started a new incentive for our staff, "You Got Caught."  This incentive allows for any adult in the building to acknowledge another adult for doing something great around the school.  We do something similar with our students and give them green tickets for doing something great within the school day.  Each week we have drawings in which students get called down to the office to claim their prize.  All of our staff members who were "Caught" received a beautiful mum donated by Seper's Garden Center.  Thank you to Seper's Garden Center for the generous donation.  Our lucky winners were able to place these beautiful mums at their house!

October 25-29

 PTMS Wildcats,

We hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend.  PTMS had a great week with a lot of amazing things to highlight.  Below are just a few of the amazing activities that took place last week...

-Students in all grades had a plank challenge during PE.  Do you know what the best time was for a PTMS student?  Look at the pictures below to see who set the record for their grade level.

-Our 5th-grade students completed an experiment to investigate/determine the mass, weight, and volume of five different types of balls.  After calculating the mass, weight, and volume, the students calculated the density and determine whether each type of ball sank or floated.

-We also had students in 6th-grade investigating pumpkins as they were carved.   Do any of the physical characteristics (such as height, circumference, or weight) help to predict the number of seeds inside of a pumpkin?

-Our 7th-grade students solved mathematical and real-world problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of both integers and signed rational numbers.

-Our 8th-grade students were assigned a role as defense or prosecutor. Students had to use evidence from the text to support their arguments.

We look forward to carrying this momentum into this week at PTMS. Also, this week is Red Ribbon Week. PTMS students will take part in different activities that help promote safe-healthy drug free choices.

October 18-22

 PTMS Wildcats,

We hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend!  This past week, PTMS received a makeover in front of our school thanks to the South Jersey Land & Water Trust, staff, and Wildcats!  Our students were provided a brief overview of how this rain garden will have a positive impact on rain water that is collected from around our school area.  Once students were provided some background information, it was time to plant.  We were able to plant over 1400 different grasses, flowers, plants, and shrubs in the front of the school.  We look forward to seeing how our rain garden will grow over the next few years and clean pollutants out of the rain water runoff before it enters other waterways.  We thank everyone for all of their hard work in making this project reach completion.

October 12-15

PTMS Wildcats,

We hope that everyone enjoyed their 3-day weekend.  Last week, all PTMS staff and students participated in “The Week of Respect.”  Along with themed days, the staff created and shared a video with our students reading the book, “We’re All Wonder.”  Here is the link to that video.  Also, on Wednesday, we provided each student with a strip of paper to write how they plan on showing respect.  We turned this into a chain that is hung in our main entrance.  This was a great week to bring all of us together as a school community.

This week, the front of PTMS will be receiving some fall planting sponsored by the South Jersey Land andWater Trust. All of our students will have an opportunity to help with the planting. We look forward to

seeing how these plants and flowers will make a difference in years to come.  Stay tuned for photos!

Also, this Thursday, October 14, is individual student photos by Lifetouch.

October 4-8

 PTMS Wildcats,

We are now in October for the 2021-22 school year.  This past week, we held our first in-person Back-To-School Night in two years and it was well attended.  Our community was able to meet with our teachers and learn how each of their student's classes was going to be structured for the school year.  We thank everyone who was able to attend.  Also, this past week we began our RTI Intervention and Enrichment Cycle 1.  We have identified students in need of additional support in Mathematics and Language Arts.  Our interventionist began working with these students and setting goals for the next 10 weeks.  We are looking forward to seeing these students Thrive!  In addition, our enrichment offerings are in full swing and students are beginning to take part in activities in STEM, Service to Self, Literacy, and Visual & Performing Arts.

This upcoming week is our "Week of Respect."  Please see this link for the daily themes for our school.  Also, this week is a short week, students will be off from school this Friday for a staff in-service.
