PTMS December 2-6

PTMS Wildcats,
We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break.  It is hard to believe that in 3 weeks, we will be off for our holiday break.  However, we have a lot of activities in the upcoming weeks to look forward to such as Renaissance Cards, the holiday dance, family night with a holiday escape room, classroom activities, and more.  Stay tuned for all of the upcoming events.

Check out the video update on our Renaissance Program by Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Ford

PTMS November 25-29

PTMS Wildcats,
We want to begin this week by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  We hope that this small break provides an opportunity to rest and enjoy spending time with family and friends.  This past week, PTMS students were provided a Thanksgiving-themed lunch that served mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, and turkey made by our Sodexo Food Service providers.  The students thoroughly enjoyed this experience!

PTMS November 18-22

PTMS Wildcats,

This past week marked the end of some things, the start of others, and the celebration of hard work.  The first marking period has officially ended for the 2019-2020 school year.  Our second marking period Thrive classes began.  On Friday, our students were able to celebrate and share their talents with our community at the 15th annual PTMS Talent Show.  There were over 30 students dancing, singing, and completing impossible missions with the Rubik's Cube.
For this week, we will be doing a school-wide fundraiser called, "A Little Change."  We are all asking for your help in raising money for the Salem County Women's Shelter.  From November 18-27, any change or dollars that are donated will go directly to assist a family in need during the holidays.  A LITTLE change can make a BIG change!

PTMS November 11-15

PTMS Wildcats,

We hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend.  On Thursday and Friday was the NJEA Teacher Convention.  This is an outstanding yearly conference that provides professional development and collaboration for teachers throughout the state of New Jersey.  The conference offers more than 300 professional development seminars, workshops, and programs designed to help teachers and educational support professionals hone their skills and stay current in their subject areas and chosen fields.
Also, on behalf of the PTMS staff, we would like to thank all of the parents/guardians who were able to attend the conferences on Monday and Tuesday.  We look forward to continuing to work together so our students can achieve.   Thank you again for your support!

PTMS November 4-8

PTMS Wildcats,

This past week provided another opportunity to help our students with understanding the power of social media.  On Monday, our 7th and 8th-grade students visited the high school for a presentation about how things can "Go Viral."  During this presentation, our students were able to learn about the proper use of social media and how social media posts can impact others.  In addition, the presentation focused on ways to treat others and increase a positive school culture.  A message from Kid President on 20 Things We Should Say More Often.

On Friday, our students presented their projects about the Day of the Dead while enjoying a little fiesta.  This was a successful cross-curricular activity that pulled our Art, Music, and Spanish teachers together.  Our students really enjoyed this experience!

PTMS October 28-November 1

PTMS Wildcats,

We had a great week at PTMS.  Our Red Ribbon Week and School Violence Awareness Week provided several opportunities to bring our entire school family together.  Our students and staff showed a lot of school unity by wearing the appropriate colors in support of bringing everyone's attention to unity and the dangers of drugs.  A special thank you to our high school students for coming over and teaching our students about how drugs affect our bodies.  Our week ended with a spooktacular school-wide Halloween Dance.  We had over 300 students in attendance who were able to enjoy snacks, refreshments, and dance to cap off another great week at PTMS.  Thank you to the teachers and parents who were able to chaperone this dance and make another memorable time for our students!

PTMS October 21-25

PTMS Wildcats,

This week may have been short, however, our school had a lot of exciting activities going on throughout the building.  Ms. Conroy and Mrs. Brown were able to get two projects funded by donorschoose.org.  We thank our donors for helping us create new learning spaces and activities for our students! We are looking forward to seeing the two projects implemented in our school soon.  Stay tuned!  On Thursday, some of our 8th-grade students were able to go on the Salem County Agriculture Field Trip where they learned about hydroponics, how chickens are raised, different types of farm equipment, and how some tractors have a satellite GPS to plow fields.  Also, on Thursday our "Top Cats" of the month were recognized at the board of education meeting.
